Handling

by Ramona Pronesti last modified 2007-09-26 16:26

Internal handling represents the physical integration element for each logistic automation system.

The Material Handling division has developed a high analysis capacity that brought to the design and realisation of internal handling systems, automatic warehouse and sorting systems suitable for the requirements of all industrial and distribution sectors.

Over the time various basic modules have been realised (conveyors, lifters, hoisters, sorters, dynamic accumulation lines) capable of making up lines that can suit the different logistic situations. The machines are chosen and selected from those offered on the market that best fit the specific plant requirements (taping machines, palletizers, strapping machines, box shapers, thermal shrinking ovens, etc...).

Each single proposal involves a mechanical design integrated with the electric part made of PLC panels, which offer flexible and upgradable solutions to protect investments that often involve life cycles longer than the variable needs of a company.

The deep system knowledge of our team allows obtaining internal handling solutions that are innovative, flexible and close integrated with the Group’s products (warehouse operating management, automatic weighing and labelling process, product track and tracing).

“Turnkey” plants can be realised in total customer’s guarantee, including line electrification, warehouse operating management and security control systems.

The design of the internal conveyance systems is the result of a close co-operation of all the various departments of the Group: therefore, our systems come to life already completely integrated with the aim of creating simple and reliable solutions and of developing a global view of the problem under discussion, which means not only limited to the handling aspect.

Box handling

The box handling system is above all characterised by a great flexibility. The speed and efficiency of these systems allow obtaining extremely high performances ensuring high reliability standards and cost-effectiveness for the customers.

When developing our conveyance systems our attention is always focused on the customer’s requirements. Our aim is to actively contribute to the success of our customers being sure that a good competitiveness level can be obtained through the creation of customised solutions for each single need.

The innovation grows any time we create a new system: selected and integrated components, performance flexibility, dynamic and not forced piling, ergonomic design and low maintenance, only to mention a few of our system features.

The result: great flexibility and performance of the systems accompanied by a constant costs reduction.

Characteristics of the plants

The modern material handling systems have ergonomic workstation, what represents a very important efficiency factor.

For example, the ergonomic requirements of a picking area must ensure a picking time reduction.

A clear and natural operative organisation brings to a further reduction of the reaction times. All efficient ergonomic solutions also present a pleasant aspect: they improve the well-being, and therefore the efficiency of the staff. Moreover, the movements and energy waste are reduced to a minimum thus bringing down the percentage of human error in the processing cycle.

Another extremely important point is the system security: the design of the equipments is such to exclude any risk of being caught by the various shoving and transport mechanisms, as well as dangerous areas between moving and fixed parts, where there is injury risk on the roll lines. The emergency stop buttons are standard, while all the surfaces in contact with wooden, plastic areas etc. are rounded.

A few technical details

Roll conveyor belt

It has been optimised to convey the most different types of totes and cartons. Its multi-functionality derives from the possibility of being equipped, totally or partially, with electro-mechanic or mechanic accumulation modules, independently of the conveyed material. These accumulation modules can be added anytime. The roll conveyor belt is the ideal device for highly dynamic situations and offers an efficient accumulation according to the highest standards.

TrasportatoreRulli

Multi conveyor belt

Two-track conveyor belt for an extremely precise handling of totes and cartons; it increases the support duration life and has a low noise emission. This conveyor operates in the storing positions that can be added in a second time.

TrasportatoreCinghiaMulti

Roll bend conveyor

This bend conveyor is equipped with conical rolls that ensure a precise movement at tote and carton delivery and entry. In addition, the flat belt employed in this conveyor ensures uniform movement. The roll bend conveyor offers a high quality transport at moderate costs.

Curve a Rulli

Roll bend conveyor belt for feeding/unloading

Totes and cartons can be transferred from/to a section of the conveyor placed parallel or at right angle using a feeding/unloading roll bend and maintaining the same alignment. The straight section of the supporting conveyor can be equipped with accumulation modules.

Strap Output System

This system reaches its maximum performance (up to 2000 loads/hour) thanks to a “flying” transfer of totes and cartons onto sections of a conveyor placed at right angle. The number of straps may vary at will thus rendering this system suitable for the various sizes of the conveyed goods. It also offers an extremely precise transfer with a minimum noise emission.

StrapOutputSystem

Strap Offset (strap deviation)

Is used to deflect up to 1700 loads/h onto sections of a conveyor that runs at right angle or parallel. Such a high nodal performance is obtained by way of a “flying” transfer. The deflecting process is very safe and precise with a low noise emission despite its very high speed. The number of selectable straps varies according to the size of the goods to transport. This system complies with the most demanding safety requirements and therefore, it can be used in the workstations.

StrapOffset

Z conveyor

Transports up to 1500 loads/h covering a distance of 11 metres vertically. The rigid grids pick the goods from the horizontal conveyor and re-position them at the ends of the Z conveyor.

ZConveyor

Pop-up System

Guarantees a safe and almost noiseless delivery even where the distance between totes and cartons is minimum. Its maximum output is 4500 units/h and represents a precious solution requiring minimum control.

Stacker

Used to stack and/or remove totes from a pile. The mechanism adjusts to the type of totes under use. It can handle totes at different heights.

Impilatorer

Diagonal chain transfer

Enables a precise and quick transfer of the conveyed material at an angle lower than 45°, on parallel or right angle lines. The product is lifted by the rollers through two pushing cams installed on the chains and fixed onto the connection line. The diagonal chain transfer is optional and can be installed by way of a screwed bar.

The electro-mechanic accumulation module

Is the base of multi-functional roll conveyor. Moreover, it is noiseless, more compact and reliable and involves less energy consumption.

Electromechanical Accumulation Modulo
Multiple-track strap technology

It supplies a flexible use of totes and cartons of various sizes: an efficient system for universal application in hand-over stations, picking areas and transfer devices.

MultipleTrackStrpTechnology
Flat transmission belt

The only flat transmission belt system that is efficient and cuts maintenance costs. This simple and intelligent system is definitively quieter and safer.

The universal conveyor model

It is suitable for all kinds of conveyed goods, independently of the material, quality, weight and size.

Machines and systems at line end

A wide range of machine is available according to the specific needs and all of them can be integrated into a material flow management system.

How to choose the most suitable machines? What must one ask himself?

  • What kind of cartons do I handle? Are there very different sizes?
  • Which are the package features?
  • How can I identify the package?
  • What kind of checks do I want to make?
  • What protection do I need?
  • What is the package frequency?

The answers to these simple questions allow identifying the picking system and the packaging and shipping area management that most fit own requirements.
